Ultimate Vocabulary Reviewer's Comments

This vocabulary program has a clean, organized interface and the provider claims that it has nearly 150,000 words. However, this program is in need of quality editing. It appears that many of the word definitions display secondary definitions before the common first definitions, such as for the word “drink,” the first definition is a “single serving of a beverage,” instead of “to take in liquids.” Or for the word “dream” the first definition the software provides is “someone of something wonderful.” We feel these definitions are misleading and may cause confusion for the learner when they experience the words outside the program.

Additionally, some of the words have redundant references, such as for the word “feed,” the hypernym list (common synonyms) includes the word “cater” and the word “ply” three times. We found numerous errors in this program.

In addition, we could not get the audio tool to work. We tried several areas of the program, turned our volume to the max and more, but were never able to access the audio elements.
